Animism
Animism is the oldest form of belief system in the world. It is still practiced in many forms in traditional societies. There is no one who is considered the founder of Animism. People who follow animism are called animists. Animists practice nature worship. They believe that everything in the world has a spirit. Animist rituals are typically conducted by a Shaman, Medicine Man, or Medicine Woman. No one is sure exactly where animism originated, but it has spread worldwide but it is commonly found in areas of Africa and the Americas. Animism is neither monotheistic or polytheistic because they do not believe in a God, just the spirits of the afterlife. There is no holy scripture, only the stories past down from generation to generation.
